Seasons Greetings
Welcome to our Christmas 2009 newsletter!
Once again, the year seems to have disappeared almost without trace and I am sorry for not being in touch before now. Things have been fairly hectic here, with 2009 being a good year. Just as things were starting to calm down, Tony decided to throw himself of a ladder and break his arm in early October, so we still haven’t managed to tackle our things to do list! The arm seems to be on the mend and we have our fingers crossed things will be back to normal soon.

News
TV - Earlier this year we hosted the film crew for a series planned for early 2010 being presented by Clare Balding. The programme, Britain by Bike, retraces the routes of Harold Briercliffe’s cycle guides with the original bike. Fortunately the weather was fantastic while they were here so you will be able to see many of your favourite places in the lovely autumn sunshine. The series is being shown on BBC4 and is planned to start at the end of February 2010. An update will be available from our website as soon as we have more information.

Awards - We have received some nominations for the Scottish Hotel Awards 2010 and if you are interested in taking part or voting please see their website, http://www.scottishhotelsoftheyear.com/.

Wine Tasting - For those rainy days during the quieter months of 2010, we will be starting wine courses and people will be able to gain the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust Foundation Certificate in Wines. For those interested in food and wine, any courses offered by Tkm Consulting are available during your stay – please see the website for a full list. All courses require a minimum of two people.

Donations – Thank-you for all your suggestions last year for suitable charities to receive a donation in lieu of Christmas Cards. In response we have donated money to Macmillan Cancer, the Kintail Mountain Rescue Team and the Loch Duich Children’s Christmas Party.

Winter and Spring Short Breaks
Turning to next year, we have some great Valentine’s packages available between 10 – 17 February 2009. As Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, we will be able to offer dinner on 14 February 2009 for one week only!

We also have a range of offers available for accommodation booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis during winter and spring, with packages running until the week before Easter weekend, 31 March 2009. Two night breaks for two people on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis start from £275, with three nights starting from £395.

Easter breaks are also available – please give us a call or see our website.

Restaurant opening times
Grants will be open to residents from 10 February 2010 and, although we are not opening for non-residents, we can accommodate them on any day we have reservations in the restaurant for residents. Please note the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings. Please also note that, with effect from 1 September 2009, Grants is no longer able to take children under 11 years old.
