Out and about in Glenshiel
Ratagan is an excellent central location for a visit to the Western Highlands, within easy reach of the Five Sisters of Kintail, the Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye beyond. Additionally the village is a superb base for walking, horse riding, fishing, climbing, and many other outdoor pursuits.

With eagles and buzzards flying overhead, and porpoises, otters and seals regularly visiting Loch Duich, Ratagan in Glenshiel provides an idyllic setting for the perfect Scottish Highlands break. If you would like to see more examples of the scenery, have a look through our picture gallery.

Excursions include Eilean Donan Castle and other historic monuments, Lochalsh Woodland Gardens, Attadale Gardens and other tropical gardens and landscapes, see the secrets of the sea in the Seaprobe Atlantis from Kyle of Lochalsh, or stay above water and enjoy one of Calum's Seal Trips.

Grants is also a fantastic base for those planning to explore Skye, which is within easy reach either by road over the Skye Bridge (approximately 20 minutes away) or using the Glenelg ferry.

Apart from Ratagan, there are also some extremely picturesque villages within easy driving distance, including Dornie, Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh, Kyleakin and Balmacara.

Local Producers in the surrounding area includes a number of distilleries including Talisker on the Isle of Skye all of which are worthy of a visit, the Achmore Dairy offers a wide range of locally made dairy products all of which come highly recommended, the Kyle Art Market, Skye Jewellery and Loch Duich Plants.
